ABSTRACT

The article highlights the innovative nature of the monograph, which presents the main results of a study carried out with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) in 2023–2025 as part of project No. 23-18-00537 at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The book presents an original perspective on the study of Russian households with children. In the paradigm of “sustainability” – “unsustainability”, the employment situation of households, their economic situation and standard of living are considered, which are then generalized into their socio-labour situation. The authors of the monograph combine several perspectives of studying the problems of (un)sustainability: (un)sustainability (precarity) of employment of household members and their employment situation in general, as well as economic, financial and housing (un)sustainability. Their “integration” allowed the authors to propose the following classification of households with children – with sustainable, vulnerable and unsustainable socio-labour situation; quantify them; propose approaches to improve the social and labour sustainability of households with children. The results of the study are aimed at solving the key national development goals of the Russian Federation – population preservation, strengthening the health and well-being of people, and family support.
